Plastic Surgeons for Breast Augmentation in AZ

Women seeking breast augmentation also referred to as augmentation mammaplasty, often do so as breast augmentation surgery can not only correct size discrepancies, it can also add shape and volume, creating what many women believe to be a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. Plastic surgeons offer breast enhancement surgery for patients seeking to cosmetically enlarge genetically small or "asymmetrical" breasts. Many patients want surgery to address their dissatisfaction with loss of fullness or volume after pregnancy, due aging, or after massive weight loss.

Most surgeons perform breast augmentation in a surgery center, or in a hospital setting using general anesthesia. Patients can expect their procedure to last about 1 hour, or less based on the type of enlargement surgery your plastic surgeon performs.

To begin the procedure, plastic surgeons will make an incision, usually under the breast, around the nipple, or in the arm pit. Your plastic surgeon will then use a special tool to create a space or pocket for the implant to be inserted. While implants do come in a variety of shapes and sizes, select plastic surgeons often use only round implants to achieve the most natural looking results. For breast augmentation, the type of incision and placement that is best for you, often will depend on your body type, size of implant, and amount of natural breast tissue present.

Breast Augmentation, Is it Right for You?

The best candidates for surgery are generally women over the age of 18 who demonstrate to their plastic surgeon that they are both physically and mentally healthy and have realistic expectations regarding cosmetic surgery. Candidates must be comfortable with the possibility of some scaring, and that with time, gravity and aging may cause ptosis or sagging over time.

Those who plan to get pregnant are often still good candidates for surgery, however women looking to lose excessive amounts of weight in the near future are not ideal candidates for surgery. Those who currently have breast ptosis, may require a procedure known as mastopexy (breast lift) in combination with your their implants, to achieve optimal results.

Typically, the best and safest procedures are performed by a surgeon that has completed years of specialized training in plastic surgery. If your plastic surgeon is board certified, this means they have had additional specialized training and passed both rigorous oral and written exams related to their field.
